Mailbox Installation Guide

Follow the steps below to install your new Dry Mailbox quickly and securely. Watch the installation video above for a visual walkthrough.

What You'll Need

  • Your Dry Mailbox unit
  • Mounting hardware (included in the box)
  • Power drill or screwdriver
  • Level
  • Pencil or marker for marking drill points
  • Wall anchors (if mounting on masonry or brick)

Step-by-Step Installation

Step 1 – Choose Your Location

Select a mounting location that is easily accessible from your driveway or walkway. Make sure the surface is flat and sturdy. Check that the mailbox door will open freely without obstruction.

Step 2 – Mark Your Drill Points

Hold the mailbox mounting bracket (or the mailbox itself) against the wall at your desired height. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly straight. Mark the drill points through the mounting holes with a pencil.

Step 3 – Drill the Holes

Remove the mailbox and drill holes at your marked points. Use the appropriate drill bit for your surface material:

  • Wood siding: Standard wood drill bit
  • Brick or masonry: Masonry drill bit and wall anchors
  • Vinyl siding: Use a vinyl-safe bit and add backing support if needed

Step 4 – Secure the Mounting Bracket

Insert wall anchors if required. Align the mounting bracket with the drilled holes and fasten securely using the provided screws. Give the bracket a firm tug to confirm it is stable before proceeding.

Step 5 – Attach the Mailbox

Slide or snap the Dry Mailbox unit onto the mounted bracket as directed by the bracket design. Tighten any locking screws or fasteners until the mailbox sits firmly and does not wobble.

Step 6 – Verify Alignment and Function

Use your level one more time to confirm the mailbox is straight. Open and close the door several times to ensure it operates smoothly. Check that the weatherproof seal closes fully to keep the interior dry.

Step 7 – Final Check

Stand back and confirm the mailbox is positioned at an accessible and visible height. Make sure your house number or name plate, if applicable, is readable from the street.
